Ironwood and Sculpted Steel Railing

Goals and Vision: Handling the landing intersection of upper balustrade and lower balustrade in one plane, helping to minimize the glass and bringing focus on just the ironwood and top rail was a challenge in this project

Specific challenges: The stairway was already heavily modified to meet minimum codes, so attaching the ironwood newel posts had to be a one-shot, perfectly aligned endeavor, while keeping spans just below the need for laminated glass.
